13 (T) eT we'ttae dsrho thos,ieat nl b n (7)

The waters thin, so don't be late.

I really feel like it is time to revisit this as a potential solution to line 13. I had assumed it should be "the water's thin" or that "thin" was being used as a verb, which made no sense. However, a little poetic license (and an ellipsis) could resolve this to "The waters [are] thin, so don't be late." We need to look at this in the historical context of the game at that point in time.

First, the first physical drop from This Is My Story Now. Cu Roi retrieved it, and upon revealing that it contained a tarot card, Cassie chastised us with "I don't play cards." This seems to indicate that we were late in retreiving the drop because someone beat us to it and replaced it.

Next, there's the Revelation 3 video. Cassie is on the top of the church roof in Kane, looking out over water. If "thin" meant "shallow," then perhaps some of those waters where less deep than others and contained a clue under the surface? This seems to fit lines 2 and 11 from the anagram, assuming those solutions are correct.

Finally, this was apparently the end-game. Cassie had retreated into Second Life, perhaps because of real-world gamejacking interference. The "don't be late" was an admonishment. Basically "if you don't get this one, it's game over." And it was, because we didn't get it.

Until it is replaced by something better, or the end of line 14 rules it out, I personally believe it should stand as a strong candidate. I would not carve it in stone, because that would limit line 14 to rhyming with "late," but it deserves to not be dismissed outright.

Renegade's Brain Dump

Here is Renegade's brain dump from today:

Abusing AI to solve the Anagram from Hell

Lately, there have been some efforts to solve the Anagram from Hell, with results being... somewhat lacking...

Most of my efforts have been with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Despite being as precise as possible with instructions on how to solve the anagram, it will either add its own constraints to each line or ignore a previously provided constraint. It has been awhile since I attempted to do the same thing with Google Gemini, but I seem to recall the results being even worse than ChatGPT.

Last night, while hanging out on Secondlife, I decided to give Grok a shot at it. Grok shows promise, but the free tier seems to limit usage just a bit too much to tell for sure. I don't believe it is worth paying for a monthly subscription to find out it fails just as badly as the others, but if someone is already paying for it but not using their entire monthly allotment of resources, it might be worth further investigation.

Site revamp

I don't post much here, but I feel like this site is being a bit wasted as it sits. As such, I plan on doing a bit of a revamp to make it more of a resourse and a history of the ARG we all knew and loved (and are still frustrated by the Anagram from Hell). I don't know what that looks like at the moment, but something to look forward to in the coming months.
